Elaine Thompson-Herah

Elaine Thompson-Herah, born on June 28, 1992, is a distinguished Jamaican sprinter renowned for her exceptional prowess in the 60 metres, 100 metres, and 200 metres events. Widely regarded as one of the greatest female sprinters in history, she has earned the title of the fastest woman alive in the 100 m and ranks as the third fastest ever in the 200 m.

Thompson-Herah made history by becoming the first female sprinter, and the second overall after Usain Bolt, to achieve the coveted 'sprint double' at consecutive Olympics. She clinched gold medals in both the 100 m and 200 m at the 2016 Rio Olympics and successfully defended her titles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, solidifying her legacy as a six-time Olympic medallist.

Her rise to prominence began at the 2015 World Athletics Championships, where she won a silver medal in the 200 m, marking her as the fifth-fastest woman in history at that distance. Despite facing challenges due to an Achilles tendon injury that impacted her performance in subsequent championships, Thompson-Herah made a remarkable comeback at the Tokyo Olympics, setting an Olympic record of ten point sixty-one seconds in the 100 m and achieving a personal best and national record of twenty-one point fifty-three seconds in the 200 m.
