Eldar Shengelaia

Eldar Shengelaia, born on January twenty-sixth, nineteen thirty-three, is a distinguished Georgian film director and screenwriter whose cinematic contributions span nearly four decades. He directed a total of ten films from nineteen fifty-seven to nineteen ninety-six, showcasing his unique storytelling and artistic vision.

In addition to his filmmaking career, Shengelaia was an influential political figure, serving as a member of the Parliament of Georgia from nineteen ninety to two thousand four. His dedication to the arts was recognized in nineteen eighty-eight when he was awarded the prestigious title of People's Artist of the USSR.

Shengelaia's leadership extended beyond politics; he was the chairman of the Film-makers' Union of Georgia starting in nineteen seventy-six, where he played a pivotal role in supporting and promoting Georgian cinema. In two thousand eight, he took on the role of chairman of the State Council of Heraldry at the Parliament of Georgia, further demonstrating his commitment to cultural heritage.
