Elena Kaliská

Elena Kaliská, born on January nineteenth, nineteen seventy-two, is a distinguished retired Slovak slalom canoeist who made her mark in the sport from nineteen eighty-eight to two thousand nineteen. Specializing in the K1 event, she competed at a time when this was the sole discipline available for women, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication.

Throughout her illustrious career, Kaliská participated in four Summer Olympics, where she achieved remarkable success by winning two gold medals in the K1 event, triumphing in two thousand four and two thousand eight. Her prowess extended beyond the Olympics, as she secured five medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, including two golds in K1 in two thousand five and K1 team in two thousand eleven, along with two silvers and a bronze.

Kaliská's dominance in the sport is further highlighted by her six overall World Cup titles, a record in the K1 discipline, which she claimed between two thousand and two thousand one, and from two thousand three to two thousand six. Additionally, her impressive tally at the European Championships includes sixteen medals, comprising eight golds, four silvers, and four bronzes.

In two thousand twenty-one, she added another accolade to her storied career by winning a gold medal in K1 at the inaugural ICF Masters Canoe Slalom World Championship held in Kraków.
