Elena Lasconi

Elena Lasconi, born on April twentieth, nineteen seventy-two, is a prominent Romanian politician and former journalist. She currently serves as the mayor of Câmpulung in Argeș County, a position she has held since her election in the two thousand twenty elections, and she successfully secured re-election in two thousand twenty-four.

In a significant development for her political career, Lasconi was elected president of the Save Romania Union (USR) on June twenty-sixth, two thousand twenty-four, following a decisive victory in the internal elections. Her leadership was further recognized when she was chosen as the party's candidate for the upcoming presidential election in two thousand twenty-four.

Lasconi briefly led the USR's list of candidates for the two thousand twenty-four European Parliament elections, although she stepped down from this role at the request of the former party president, Cătălin Drulă.
