Elena of Montenegro

Elena of Montenegro, born on January eighth, eighteen seventy-three, served as the Queen of Italy from July twenty-nine, nineteen hundred until May ninth, nineteen forty-six. She was the beloved wife of King Victor Emmanuel III, and during her reign, she briefly held the titles of Empress of Ethiopia and Queen of the Albanians. However, these titles were relinquished when her husband formally renounced them in nineteen forty-three.

As the daughter of King Nicholas I and Queen Milena of Montenegro, Elena was born into royalty, which shaped her future role in Italian history. Her marriage to Victor Emmanuel III not only united two royal houses but also positioned her at the heart of Italy's political landscape during a time of significant change.

In recognition of her life and contributions, the process for her beatification was opened in two thousand one, leading to her being titled Servant of God. This honor reflects her enduring legacy and the impact she had on her country and its people.
