Since nineteen seventy-three, she has made her home in Chicoutimi, now known as Saguenay, Quebec, Canada, where she has contributed significantly to the literary landscape.
From nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen ninety, Vonarburg served as the literary director of Solaris, a prominent French-Canadian science fiction magazine. Her literary journey began with the publication of her first novel, Le Silence de la Cité (The Silence in the City), in nineteen eighty-one, marking the start of a prolific career.
Throughout her career, Vonarburg has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Le Grand Prix de la SF française in nineteen eighty-two.
