Élisabeth Vonarburg

Élisabeth Vonarburg, born on August fifth, nineteen forty-seven, in Paris, France, is a distinguished science fiction writer and translator. Since nineteen seventy-three, she has made her home in Chicoutimi, now known as Saguenay, Quebec, Canada, where she has contributed significantly to the literary landscape.

From nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen ninety, Vonarburg served as the literary director of Solaris, a prominent French-Canadian science fiction magazine. Her literary journey began with the publication of her first novel, Le Silence de la Cité (The Silence in the City), in nineteen eighty-one, marking the start of a prolific career.

Throughout her career, Vonarburg has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious Le Grand Prix de la SF française in nineteen eighty-two. Additionally, she received a special citation for the Philip K. Dick Award in nineteen ninety-two for her work In the Mothers' Land, the English version of Chroniques du pays des mères. Her contributions to the genre also include the notable Cycle de Tyranaël.
