Eliza McCardle Johnson

As the wife of President Andrew Johnson, she played a crucial role in his early political career, providing him with education and encouragement to enhance his oratory skills. Despite her influence, Eliza remained largely out of the public eye during her husband's presidency, delegating social duties to their daughter, Martha Johnson Patterson.
