Elizabeth Denham CBE, LL. D. (hon.) is a distinguished archivist and the current Chair of the Jersey Data Protection Authority. With a career dedicated to the protection of information and privacy, Denham has made significant contributions to the field, particularly during her tenure as the UK Information Commissioner from July 2016 to November 2021.
Before her role in the UK, Denham served as the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, a position she held since May 2010. Her journey in the realm of privacy began in 2007 when she was appointed as the Assistant Privacy Commissioner of Canada, where she laid the groundwork for her future endeavors.
In addition to her regulatory roles, Denham is a trustee at the 5Rights Foundation, an organization founded by Baroness Beeban Kidron, which is committed to advocating for the rights of children in the digital space. Her work continues to influence policies that protect individuals' privacy and promote responsible data practices.
