Elizabeth Smylie, born on April 11, 1963, is a distinguished Australian sports broadcaster and a retired professional tennis player. Known affectionately as Liz Smylie, she made her mark in the world of tennis with an impressive career that included four Grand Slam titles—one in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles. In addition to her Grand Slam success, she secured three singles titles and an impressive thirty-six doubles titles throughout her career.

In the early 1990s, Liz dedicated part of her time to nurturing the next generation of tennis talent by teaching junior players at Smith's Tennis Center in North Curl Curl, Sydney. Her passion for the sport extended beyond her playing days, as she transitioned into a successful career in sports commentary.

After retiring from professional tennis in 1997, Smylie became a prominent figure in television commentary, lending her expertise to major tournaments such as Wimbledon and the US Open for the Nine Network, as well as the Seven Network. One of her most notable moments came during the 2003 Australian Open Women's Final, where she served as the lead commentator for the historic match between sisters Serena and Venus Williams, which captivated over two million viewers across Australia's five main capital cities.
