Ellen Streidt

Ellen Streidt, born on July twenty-seventh, nineteen fifty-two, is a retired East German sprinter renowned for her exceptional talent in the 200 metres and 400 metres events. Her athletic career is marked by remarkable achievements, particularly in the realm of international competitions.

At the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Streidt showcased her prowess by finishing fourth in the 200 metres final. Her performance was incredibly close, as she crossed the finish line just one one-hundredth of a second behind the bronze medallist, Irena Szewińska, highlighting the intense competition she faced.

Four years later, at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Streidt reached the pinnacle of her career. She earned a bronze medal in the 400 metres, a testament to her speed and determination. Additionally, she was part of the East German relay team that clinched the gold medal in the 4 × 400 metres, alongside her talented teammates Brigitte Rohde, Christina Brehmer, and Doris Maletzki.
