Ellis Corman

Ellis Corman, born on September twenty-second, eighteen ninety-four, in Stoney Creek, Ontario, was a multifaceted individual who made significant contributions as a politician, farmer, canner, and fruit grower. Corman pursued higher education at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. This academic foundation equipped him with the knowledge and skills that would later inform his work in both agriculture and politics.

His political journey began with an attempt to secure a seat in the House of Commons during the nineteen thirty-five federal election, where he ran against Conservative incumbent Frank Lennard. Although unsuccessful in that bid, Corman persevered and was elected as a member of the Liberal party for the Wentworth riding in the nineteen forty general election.

Despite his initial success, Corman faced challenges in subsequent elections. In nineteen forty-five, he was defeated by Lennard, who had transitioned to the Progressive Conservative party. This experience underscored the competitive nature of Canadian politics during that era.
