Elmer Ambrose Sperry

Elmer Ambrose Sperry Sr., born on October 12, 1860, was a pioneering American inventor and entrepreneur, renowned for his significant contributions to navigation technology. He is best known for constructing the gyrocompass, a feat he achieved just two years after Hermann Anschütz-Kaempfe. His innovative spirit led him to establish the Sperry Gyroscope Company, which played a crucial role in advancing navigational instruments.
