Emeli Sandé

Adele Emily Sandé, known professionally as Emeli Sandé, was born on 10 March 1987 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Raised in Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, she emerged as a prominent figure in the music industry following her guest appearance on Chipmunk's 2009 single 'Diamond Rings', which reached the top ten of the UK singles chart. The following year, she collaborated with Wiley on the single 'Never Be Your Woman', which also achieved similar chart success.

Sandé's solo career took off with the release of her debut single 'Heaven' in August 2011. That same year, she made waves with her guest feature on Professor Green's 'Read All About It', which topped both the UK and Irish singles charts. Her 2012 single 'Beneath Your Beautiful', featuring Labrinth, further solidified her status as a leading artist. Her debut studio album, 'Our Version of Events', released in 2012, spent ten non-consecutive weeks at the top of the UK albums chart and became the best-selling UK album of that year, with one million domestic sales.

In addition to her commercial success, Sandé showcased her talent on a global stage by performing at both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the London Olympics in 2012. Her accolades include winning the Brit Awards' Critics' Choice Award and the prestigious titles of Best British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year at the 2013 Brit Awards.

Her second studio album, 'Long Live the Angels', released in 2016, debuted at number two on the UK albums chart. In 2017, she continued her winning streak by securing the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, marking her fourth win overall. In 2018, she lent her voice to the character Thethuthinnang in the miniseries 'Watership Down', further demonstrating her versatility as an artist.
