Emilio Mola

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Emilio Mola

Emilio Mola, born on June ninth, eighteen eighty-seven, was a prominent Spanish military officer who played a pivotal role in the early stages of the Spanish Civil War. As one of the three leaders of the revolt that erupted in July nineteen thirty-six, Mola's strategic acumen was instrumental in the Nationalist uprising against the Spanish Republic.

Following the death of fellow military leader José Sanjurjo on July twentieth, nineteen thirty-six, Mola took command of the Nationalist forces in northern Spain. His operations were coordinated with Francisco Franco, who led the Nationalists in the south. Mola's ambition was to capture Madrid, and he famously referred to local Nationalist sympathizers within the city as a 'fifth column,' a term that would later become widely recognized.

Tragically, Mola's life was cut short when he died in a plane crash under adverse weather conditions. His untimely death left Franco as the dominant figure among the Nationalists for the remainder of the conflict. Speculation surrounded the circumstances of his demise, with some suggesting the possibility of sabotage, although no conclusive evidence has ever emerged to support this theory.
