Emily Greene Balch

Emily Greene Balch, born on January eighth, eighteen sixty-seven, was a prominent American economist, sociologist, and pacifist. Her academic journey was deeply intertwined with her commitment to social issues, including poverty, child labor, and immigration. Balch dedicated herself to settlement work aimed at uplifting impoverished immigrants and addressing juvenile delinquency, reflecting her profound concern for societal welfare.
