In December nineteen sixty-two, at the age of thirty-five, he was consecrated as a bishop, a pivotal moment that set the stage for his future leadership within the Church. His dedication and leadership qualities were recognized when he was elected as the Patriarch of the Chaldean Church on December third, two thousand three, succeeding the late Patriarch Raphael I Bidawid.
