Emmerson Mnangagwa, born on September fifteenth, nineteen forty-two, in Shabani, Southern Rhodesia, is a prominent Zimbabwean politician who has held the presidency since two thousand seventeen. A member of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), he was a close ally of former president Robert Mugabe, serving in various cabinet roles, including as Mugabe's first vice president from two thousand fourteen until his dismissal in two thousand seventeen, which preceded his rise to power through a coup d'état.
His early life was marked by political upheaval; as a child of farmers in a large Shona family, he was forced to relocate to Northern Rhodesia in the nineteen fifties due to his father's activism.
