Empedocles

Empedocles, born in the year four hundred ninety BCE, was a remarkable figure in ancient Greece, hailing from the city of Akragas in Sicily. As a pre-Socratic philosopher, he made significant contributions to the understanding of the natural world, most notably through his cosmogonic theory that introduced the four classical elements: earth, water, air, and fire.
