Emperor Chūkyō

Emperor Chūkyō, born on October thirtieth, twelve eighteen, holds a unique place in Japanese history as the eighty-fifth emperor. His reign, though brief, is marked by significant historical context and intrigue.

Chūkyō's time on the throne was notably short, lasting only two months in the year twelve twenty-one. This fleeting period of sovereignty has led to questions regarding his legitimacy, resulting in his exclusion from the official list of emperors until the year eighteen seventy.

Despite the doubts surrounding his reign, the Imperial Household Agency recognizes his final resting place at Kujō no misasagi, located near Tōfuku-ji in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. This site serves as a testament to his existence and the legacy he left behind.
