Emperor Ōgimachi, born Michihito on June eighteenth, fifteen seventeen, holds the distinguished title of the one hundred sixth Emperor of Japan. His reign, which began on November seventeenth, fifteen fifty-seven, marked a significant transition in Japanese history, bridging the tumultuous Sengoku period of the Muromachi bakufu and ushering in the dawn of the Azuchi–Momoyama period.
