Emperor Zhezong of Song, born Zhao Xu on January fourth, one thousand seventy-seven, was a significant figure in Chinese history as the seventh emperor of the Song dynasty. He was the sixth son of Emperor Shenzong and ascended to the throne at the tender age of nine, under the guidance of his grandmother, Grand Empress Dowager Gao.

During his rule, he faced numerous challenges, including the premature death of his son, which ultimately led to his younger half-brother, Emperor Huizong, succeeding him.
