Enrique Peralta Azurdia

Enrique Peralta Azurdia, born on June seventeenth, nineteen oh eight, was a prominent Guatemalan military officer and politician. He rose to power as the Head of Government from March nineteen sixty-three until July nineteen sixty-six, following a coup d'état that ousted President Miguel Ydígoras Fuentes. Prior to this pivotal moment, Peralta held significant positions in the government, serving as the Minister of Agriculture from nineteen fifty-nine to nineteen sixty and later as the Minister of Defense from nineteen sixty-one to nineteen sixty-three.

In the wake of his presidency, Peralta established the Institutional Democratic Party, a pro-military political entity inspired by the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico. This party played a crucial role in shaping Guatemalan politics, maintaining influence until nineteen eighty-two.
