Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Eoin MacNeill

Eoin MacNeill, born on May fifteenth, eighteen sixty-seven, was a prominent Irish scholar and a passionate advocate for the Irish language and culture. As a key figure in the Gaelic revival, he co-founded the Gaelic League, which aimed to preserve and promote the Irish language. His contributions to Irish history have earned him the title of 'the father of the modern study of early Irish medieval history.'

MacNeill's political career was marked by significant roles, including serving as Minister for Education from nineteen twenty-two to nineteen twenty-five and as Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from nineteen twenty-one to nineteen twenty-two. He was also a Teachta Dála from nineteen eighteen to nineteen twenty-seven and represented Londonderry City as a Member of Parliament from nineteen eighteen to nineteen twenty-two.

In addition to his political endeavors, MacNeill established the Irish Volunteers in nineteen thirteen, where he served as Chief-of-Staff. Although he held this position during the Easter Rising in nineteen sixteen, he did not participate in the uprising itself, issuing a countermanding order to prevent Volunteers from joining the insurrection after learning of the plans.

His political journey continued as he represented the Irish Free State on the Irish Boundary Commission from nineteen twenty-four to nineteen twenty-five, although he resigned amid a political crisis. Despite his significant contributions, he lost his ministerial position and his seat in the election of nineteen twenty-seven.
