Éric Bédard, born on December seventeenth, nineteen seventy-six, is a distinguished Canadian short-track speed skater and figure skating coach. With a remarkable career that includes four Olympic medals—two gold, one silver, and one bronze—Bédard has made a significant impact in the world of competitive skating.
His Olympic journey began at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where he showcased his talent in three individual events, finishing fourth in the 500 meters. Bédard also played a pivotal role in the 5000 meter relay, leading his team to a silver medal. Over the course of three Olympic Games, he earned a bronze medal in the 1,000 meters at the Nagano Olympics, along with two golds and a silver in the 5,000 meter relay.
Beyond the Olympics, Bédard has enjoyed considerable success at the World Championships, amassing a total of ten medals, including three golds in the 5,000 meter relay in nineteen ninety-eight and two thousand five, as well as in the 500 meters in two thousand.
Transitioning from athlete to coach, Bédard served as the national squad coach for Germany from two thousand eight to two thousand ten, followed by a coaching role with the Italian national team from two thousand ten to two thousand fourteen.
