Eric Bloodaxe

Eric Bloodaxe, born in the year eight hundred ninety-five, was a notable figure in the annals of Scandinavian history. As a Norwegian king, he ascended to the throne of Norway, ruling from nine hundred thirty-two to nine hundred thirty-four. His reign, though brief, was marked by the fierce ambition and martial prowess that would define his legacy.

In addition to his rule in Norway, Eric Bloodaxe also held the title of King of Northumbria on two separate occasions. His first reign over Northumbria lasted from nine hundred forty-seven to nine hundred forty-eight, followed by a second term from nine hundred fifty-two to nine hundred fifty-four. These periods were characterized by his relentless pursuit of power and the conflicts that often accompanied his rule.

Known as the Brother-Slayer, a title derived from the Latin 'fratrum interfector', Eric's life was steeped in the tumult of Viking politics and warfare. His reputation as a fierce warrior and leader was both feared and respected, leaving an indelible mark on the regions he governed.
