Eric Radford

Eric Radford, born on January twenty-seventh, nineteen eighty-five, is a retired Canadian pair skater, composer, and pianist. He is celebrated for his remarkable achievements in figure skating, particularly during his partnership with Meagan Duhamel. Together, they captured the world title twice, in two thousand fifteen and two thousand sixteen, and made history at the Winter Olympics.

Radford's Olympic journey is marked by significant milestones. He earned a gold medal in the team event at the two thousand eighteen Winter Olympics, alongside a silver medal in the team event at the two thousand fourteen Olympics, and a bronze medal in the pairs event in two thousand eighteen. Notably, he became the first openly gay man to win a gold medal at any Winter Olympics, a groundbreaking achievement in the sport.

During the two thousand fourteen Olympics, Radford and Duhamel made history as the first pair to successfully land a side-by-side triple Lutz jump at any Winter Olympic competition. At the two thousand eighteen Winter Olympics, Radford, at thirty-three years old, became one of the oldest Olympic champions in figure skating. Just days later, they also became the first team to complete a quadruple throw jump at the Winter Olympics, showcasing their extraordinary talent.

In April two thousand twenty-one, Radford announced his return to competitive skating with a new partner, Vanessa James. They represented Canada at the two thousand twenty-two Winter Olympics and secured a bronze medal at the two thousand twenty-two World Championships. Following this successful stint, Radford retired for a second time, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in figure skating.
