Eric Voegelin, born on January third, nineteen oh one, in Cologne, was a prominent German-American political philosopher whose work spanned various disciplines including political science, philosophy, history, and sociology.
His academic journey began at the University of Vienna, where he pursued political science and eventually became an associate professor within the law faculty. However, the rise of the Nazi regime forced him and his wife to flee Vienna in nineteen thirty-eight, seeking refuge in the United States.
Upon arriving in the U.S., Voegelin and his wife became citizens in nineteen forty-four. He dedicated much of his professional life to teaching and research at esteemed institutions such as Louisiana State University, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
