Eric Walter Elst

Eric Walter Elst, born on November thirtieth, nineteen thirty-six, is a distinguished Belgian astronomer renowned for his significant contributions to the field of astronomy. He served at the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Uccle, where he dedicated his career to the exploration of the cosmos.

Elst is celebrated as a prolific discoverer of asteroids, with a remarkable record that places him among the top fifteen discoverers of minor planets as recognized by the Minor Planet Center. His extensive work spanned from nineteen eighty-six to two thousand five, during which he made thousands of discoveries at notable observatories, including ESO's La Silla Observatory in northern Chile and the Rozhen Observatory in Bulgaria.
