Erjon Bogdani, born on April 14, 1977, is a distinguished Albanian football coach and former player, celebrated for his prowess as a forward. Known affectionately by the nicknames 'Bogu' and 'Er-Bomber', he is regarded as one of the most successful Albanian players of his generation.
Beginning his senior career at the young age of sixteen with Partizani Tirana in 1994, Bogdani quickly made a name for himself. His journey took him through various clubs, including stints in Turkey with Gençlerbirliği and in Croatia with Zagreb, before he established himself in Italy. Throughout his extensive career in Serie A and Serie B, he represented several clubs, such as Reggina, Salernitana, Hellas Verona, A.C. Siena, Chievo, Livorno, and Cesena.
Known for his physical style of play and exceptional aerial ability, Bogdani enjoyed multiple double-digit scoring seasons, contributing crucial goals during promotion and relegation campaigns. Notably, he recorded a hat-trick in the 2005–06 Serie A season. After becoming a free agent in May 2013, he retired from professional football in February 2014.
On the international stage, Bogdani earned seventy-five caps for the Albanian national team, debuting in 1996 and scoring his first goal three years later. With eighteen goals, he stands as Albania's all-time top goalscorer, surpassing his former teammate Alban Bushi in 2011. He holds several records, including the most goals scored as a substitute and the distinction of being the oldest goalscorer in Albanian history.
Post-retirement, Bogdani transitioned into coaching, initially serving as a youth talents scout for the Albanian Football Association in September 2014. He later became an assistant to Gianni De Biasi in August 2015 and was appointed manager of the Albania under-19 team in December 2016. In 2022, he returned to Italy as the head of youth scouting for Palermo and has been serving as the assistant sporting director at Mantova 1911 since October 2025.
