His editorial role at the Milan-based democratic paper Il Secolo from eighteen sixty-seven to eighteen ninety-six allowed him to advocate for progressive ideas and reforms. His dedication to peace culminated in the founding of the Lombard Association for Peace and Arbitration in eighteen ninety, an organization that championed disarmament and envisioned the establishment of a League of Nations and a Permanent Court of Arbitration.

Moneta's efforts in promoting peace and international cooperation were recognized when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in nineteen hundred and seven, sharing the honor with Louis Renault. His motto, 'In varietate unitas,' not only encapsulated his vision for unity in diversity but also inspired the later motto of the European Union, reflecting his lasting impact on the ideals of peace and collaboration.
