Estela Rodríguez

Estela Rodríguez, born on November seventeenth, nineteen sixty-seven, was a distinguished Cuban judoka who made her mark in the world of competitive judo. Competing in the Half Heavyweight category, which encompasses athletes over seventy-two kilograms, she showcased her exceptional skills on the international stage.

Rodríguez achieved remarkable success at the Summer Olympics, earning silver medals in both the nineteen ninety-two and nineteen ninety-six games. Her performances not only highlighted her talent but also solidified her status as one of the leading judokas of her time.

However, her career was not without controversy. At the nineteen ninety-six Olympics, she tested positive for the banned diuretic furosemide. Despite this setback, she received only a reprimand and was permitted to retain her hard-earned medals, allowing her legacy to remain intact.

Sadly, Estela Rodríguez passed away in Havana on April tenth, twenty twenty-two, at the age of fifty-four. Her contributions to judo and her remarkable achievements continue to inspire future generations of athletes.
