With dark-brown, almost black hair and captivating brown eyes, she emerged as one of the most beautiful silent film stars of the 1920s, captivating audiences with her performances.

Her career began with a stage debut in nineteen nineteen, leading to small roles in films produced by World and Vitagraph. Taylor's breakthrough came with her performance in While New York Sleeps in nineteen twenty, where she showcased her versatility by playing three distinct roles, including that of a femme fatale. As a contract player for Fox Film Corporation and later Paramount Pictures, she also freelanced for much of her career, earning acclaim for her portrayals of historical figures in significant films.

Among her notable roles were Miriam in The Ten Commandments in nineteen twenty-three, Mary, Queen of Scots in Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall in nineteen twenty-four, and Lucrezia Borgia in Don Juan in nineteen twenty-six. Taylor's marriage to world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey made them a prominent Hollywood couple, further enhancing her public profile.

Although she successfully transitioned to sound films, Estelle Taylor chose to retire from acting in nineteen thirty-two to devote herself to her singing career.
