Ethan Carter III, born on March 18, 1983, is an accomplished American actor and professional wrestler, widely recognized by his ring name EC3. His journey in the world of wrestling began in 2002, and he quickly made a name for himself in various promotions, including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), and WWE.
In 2007, Hutter joined Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he honed his skills before signing with WWE in 2009. Competing under the name Derrick Bateman, he showcased his talent in WWE's developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where he captured the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship alongside Johnny Curtis. His appearances in the fourth and fifth seasons of NXT further solidified his reputation as a rising star.
After departing WWE in May 2013, Hutter embraced a new persona as Ethan Carter III in TNA, where he became the storyline nephew of the promotion's owner, Dixie Carter. During his time there, he achieved significant success, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice and the Impact Grand Championship once.
In January 2018, EC3 made his return to WWE, competing in NXT before debuting on the main roster in early 2019. He held the WWE 24/7 Championship four times during this tenure. Following his exit from WWE in April 2020, he launched his own wrestling promotion, Control Your Narrative, which later merged with NWA in 2022, leading to his signing with the organization. Hutter continued to make waves in the wrestling world, ultimately winning the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship once before concluding his time with the promotion in 2026.
