Euphrasia Eluvathingal

Euphrasia Eluvathingal, born on October seventeenth, eighteen seventy-seven, was a revered Indian Carmelite nun of the Syro-Malabar Church, a prominent Eastern Catholic Church located in Kerala. Her life was marked by profound spirituality and dedication to her faith, which inspired many around her.

One of the most significant moments in Euphrasia's life occurred when she experienced a vision of the Holy Family. This divine encounter brought an end to a long-standing illness that had troubled her, further solidifying her reputation as a woman of deep faith and resilience.

Her contributions to the Church and her community did not go unnoticed. On November twenty-third, two thousand fourteen, she was canonized as a saint by Pope Francis in Vatican City, a testament to her virtuous life and the impact she had on those who knew her.

In recognition of her legacy, the feast of St. Euphrasia is celebrated on August thirtieth, following the traditional observance of the beheading of St. John the Baptist on August twenty-ninth. This special day serves as a reminder of her enduring influence and the spiritual journey she undertook.
