He hailed from Wolfesfield Estate in Sillery, where he was the fourth son of William Price, a successful lumber merchant, and Jane Stewart. His early education took place in the United Kingdom, laying the foundation for his future endeavors in the timber industry.
Price became a partner in the esteemed lumbering, manufacturing, and exporting company known as Price Brothers. His business acumen extended beyond lumber, as he also served as Vice-President of the Union Bank of Canada, showcasing his versatility in both commerce and finance.
In a significant political move, Price was appointed to the Senate on December first, eighteen eighty-eight, representing the senatorial division of The Laurentides in Quebec. This appointment came at the recommendation of the notable John Alexander Macdonald. As a member of the Conservative Party, Price dedicated nearly eleven years to his senatorial duties until his passing in eighteen ninety-nine.
