Evgeniya Kanaeva, born on April second, nineteen ninety, is a retired Russian individual rhythmic gymnast renowned for her extraordinary achievements in the sport. She made history as the only individual rhythmic gymnast to secure two Olympic all-around gold medals, triumphing at the 2008 Summer Olympics with a remarkable lead of three point seventy-five points over silver medalist Inna Zhukova, and again at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she became the oldest gymnast to win Olympic gold.
Throughout her illustrious career, Kanaeva amassed an impressive collection of accolades, holding the record for the most World titles with seventeen and thirteen European titles. She shares the record for the most individual world all-around titles with several notable gymnasts, including Maria Petrova and Yana Kudryavtseva, and is one of only three gymnasts to have won all three titles without being tied, a feat made challenging by the tie-breaking system.
In a groundbreaking achievement at the 2009 World Championship in Mie, Japan, Kanaeva became the first rhythmic gymnast to win all six titles, a feat she repeated at the 2011 World Championship in Montpellier, France, thereby equaling her own record. Her exceptional skills were recognized in 2009 when she was awarded the title of Merited Master of Sports in Russia.
Following her success at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Kanaeva was honored on August fifteenth at the Grand Kremlin Palace, receiving the Merit for the Fatherland IV Degree from Russian President Vladimir Putin, alongside her fellow Olympic gold medalists. Additionally, she is the only gymnast to have achieved a perfect score under the thirty-point judging system, accomplishing this remarkable feat twice during her career.
