Evghenia Guțul

Evghenia Guțul, born on September fifth, nineteen eighty-six, is a prominent Moldovan Gagauz jurist and politician. She made history by serving as the Governor of Gagauzia, a position she held from July twenty twenty-three until August twenty twenty-five. During her tenure, Guțul focused on fostering closer ties with Russia, reflecting her political stance and the interests of her constituents.

Her political journey took a significant turn when her party faced a ban imposed by Moldovan authorities, leading her to operate as an independent politician. This shift did not come without consequences; she has been sanctioned by the European Union Council for her advocacy of separatism and has also faced restrictions from the United States' Office of Foreign Assets Control.

In April twenty twenty-four, Guțul was indicted in a criminal case by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Moldova, marking a pivotal moment in her political career. The legal challenges culminated in August twenty twenty-five when she was sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly utilizing undeclared Russian funds to support her political party, the Șor Party.
