Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle, born on November twenty-seventh, nineteen eighty, in Traunstein, West Germany, is a retired German cross-country skier and biathlete. She began her competitive career in nineteen ninety-eight and has since made a significant mark in the world of winter sports. Competing in three Winter Olympics, she achieved remarkable success, securing five medals: two golds in the team sprint in two thousand ten and the 4 × 5 km relay in two thousand two, along with three silvers in the individual sprint in two thousand two, and the 4 × 5 km relay in both two thousand six and two thousand ten.

In addition to her Olympic achievements, Sachenbacher-Stehle has excelled at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, where she won six medals, including a gold in the 4 × 5 km relay in two thousand three and four silvers in various events. Throughout her career, she recorded fourteen individual victories in distances up to five kilometers from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand six, showcasing her prowess in the sport.

Her career faced challenges, including a five-day suspension at the start of the two thousand six Winter Olympics due to elevated hemoglobin levels, which led to her exclusion from competition. She joined the German B-team, which allowed her to compete in IBU Cup races, and she quickly made her mark, achieving her first podium finish in the IBU Cup in January two thousand thirteen.

Despite her successes, her career was marred by controversy when she tested positive for methylhexanamine during the Sochi Olympic Games in two thousand fourteen, resulting in a two-year ban for doping. After appealing, her ban was reduced to six months, but she ultimately decided to retire from competitive sports shortly thereafter. Evi married German alpine skier Johannes Stehle in July two thousand five, marking a personal milestone in her life.
