Ezana of Axum

Ezana of Axum, a prominent monarch of the Kingdom of Aksum, ruled during the early three hundreds to approximately three hundred sixty AD. His reign is particularly notable for his pioneering role in adopting Christianity as the state religion, marking a significant transformation in the cultural and spiritual landscape of his kingdom.

Ascending to the throne at a young age, Ezana succeeded his father, Ella Amida, also known as Ousanas. During his formative years, his mother, Sofya, acted as regent, guiding him through the complexities of leadership until he was ready to govern independently.

Ezana's legacy is further enriched by his introduction of the name 'Ethiopia' for his realm, a term that has endured through the ages. His reign not only solidified the foundations of Christianity in the region but also established Aksum as a significant power in the ancient world.
