Known for his versatility on the right flank, Schelotto began his career as a winger before transitioning into a full-back, demonstrating his adaptability on the pitch.

His journey in professional football commenced in Argentina, but in two thousand eight, he made the pivotal move to Italy to join Cesena. Embracing his Italian heritage, Schelotto opted to represent Italy internationally, earning his first cap in two thousand twelve while playing for Atalanta. His career took a significant leap in two thousand thirteen when he signed with Inter Milan, followed by loan spells at various Serie A clubs.

After his time in Italy, Schelotto ventured abroad, playing for Sporting CP in Portugal and later Brighton & Hove Albion in England.
