Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Fabián Alarcón

Fabián Alarcón, born on April fourteenth, nineteen forty-seven, is a notable Ecuadorian lawyer and politician who made significant contributions to the country's political landscape. He served as the 40th president of Ecuador from nineteen ninety-seven to nineteen ninety-eight, stepping into the role during a tumultuous period in the nation's history.

Prior to his presidency, Alarcón held the position of president of the National Congress, first from nineteen ninety-one to nineteen ninety-two and then again from nineteen ninety-five to nineteen ninety-seven. His political journey took a pivotal turn on February sixth, nineteen ninety-seven, when he became acting president following the impeachment of President Abdalá Bucaram. This transition was marked by a brief political crisis, as Rosalía Arteaga, Bucaram's vice president, assumed the presidency for a short time.

With the backing of Congress and military support, Alarcón reclaimed the presidency, while Arteaga returned to her role as vice president. In nineteen ninety-eight, he called for general elections, choosing not to run for office himself. He was succeeded by Jamil Mahuad, marking the end of his presidential term.

Alarcón's political career faced challenges, including his arrest on corruption charges in nineteen ninety-nine, from which he was later released. His presidency was notable for the fact that, until Rafael Correa's tenure in two thousand thirteen, no other Ecuadorian president had managed to serve a full term since Sixto Durán Ballén.
