Factory name

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Factory name

In the world of Cuban cigar production, the factory name, or vitola de galera, serves as a standardized designation for the size of cigars across various manufacturers. Each cigar is assigned a factory name alongside a model name, which is determined by the individual manufacturer. While some manufacturers opt to use the factory name directly, others may choose distinct model names, leading to a diverse array of options for the same size cigar.

For instance, the Emininentes, a specific size of cigar, is produced by two renowned brands: H. Upmann and Partagas. H. Upmann markets this size as 'Corona Major', while Partagas offers two variations, namely 'Coronas Senior' and 'Petit Coronas Especiales'. Despite the different branding, all three cigars share the same dimensions and shape, highlighting the consistency in size across different manufacturers.

Historically, many manufacturers outside of Cuba, particularly those established by Cuban exiles following the revolution, adhered to the Cuban factory-name system until the nineteen seventies. However, since that time, there has been a noticeable shift, with these manufacturers introducing their own vitolas and naming conventions, resulting in a lack of standardization across the industry.
