Faisal of Saudi Arabia

Faisal of Saudi Arabia, born on April fourteenth, nineteen oh six, was a prominent monarch and statesperson who reigned as King from nineteen sixty-four until his tragic assassination in nineteen seventy-five. He was the third son of King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and was born in Riyadh to Abdulaziz and Tarfa bint Abdullah Al Sheikh, a member of the influential Al ash-Sheikh family.

Before ascending to the throne, Faisal served as Crown Prince from nineteen fifty-three to nineteen sixty-four and briefly acted as regent for his half-brother, King Saud, in nineteen sixty-four. His political career began early, as he held the position of viceroy of Hejaz from nineteen twenty-six to nineteen thirty-two and was appointed Saudi foreign minister in nineteen thirty, later becoming prime minister from nineteen fifty-four to nineteen sixty, and again from nineteen sixty-two until his death.

Faisal was a reformist leader who implemented significant modernization policies and outlawed slavery in Saudi Arabia. His foreign policy was characterized by pan-Islamism, anti-communism, and pro-Palestinianism, and he notably led the oil embargo in response to Western support for Israel, which contributed to the nineteen seventy-three oil crisis. Despite facing controversy, his reign was marked by stability and popularity among the Saudi populace.

His life was cut short when he was assassinated by his nephew, Faisal bin Musaid, in nineteen seventy-five. Following his death, he was succeeded by his half-brother Khalid, leaving behind a legacy of reform and modernization that shaped the future of Saudi Arabia.
