Fan Zhiyi, born on November sixth, nineteen sixty-nine, is a prominent figure in Chinese football, both as a former player and a coach. His career as a defender saw him play for several clubs, including Shanghai Shenhua, Crystal Palace, Dundee, Shanghai COSCO Huili, Cardiff City, Buler Rangers, and Shanghai Zobon.

In nineteen ninety-eight, Fan made history alongside Sun Jihai as the first two Chinese footballers to compete in the English leagues, joining Crystal Palace. His international career peaked when he represented the China national team in the two thousand two FIFA World Cup, amassing one hundred six appearances and scoring seventeen goals.

Fan Zhiyi's contributions to football were recognized when he became the first player from China to be honored as the AFC Player of the Year. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, with his first managerial role at Shanghai East Asia, continuing to influence the sport in his homeland.
