Fares El-Bakh

Fares Ibrahim Saed Hassouna El-Bakh, known as Meso Hassouna, was born on June 4, 1998. He is a prominent Qatari weightlifter with Egyptian roots, celebrated for his remarkable achievements in the sport. His journey in weightlifting has been marked by significant milestones, including being an Olympic Champion and a World Champion.

Competing in various weight categories, Fares initially participated in the eighty-five kg and ninety-four kg divisions until 2018. Following a reorganization by the International Weightlifting Federation, he transitioned to the ninety-six kg and one hundred two kg categories. His adaptability and skill have made him a formidable competitor on the international stage.

Among his numerous accolades, Fares holds the junior world record in the clean and jerk with an impressive two hundred twenty-five kg, as well as the total record of three hundred ninety-seven kg in the ninety-six kg division. These achievements underscore his dedication and prowess in weightlifting.

Fares comes from a family with a rich sporting legacy; his father, Ibrahim Hassouna, represented Egypt in three consecutive Olympic Games from nineteen eighty-four to nineteen ninety-two. This heritage has undoubtedly influenced Fares's commitment to excellence in his athletic career.
