Over her illustrious career, she played one hundred ninety-one international matches, scoring thirty goals, and was a key player as a striker.

De Melo's contributions to the sport were pivotal in the Dutch team's success, including their triumph at the two thousand six Women's Hockey World Cup and the two thousand seven Champions Trophy. Her Olympic journey culminated in a gold medal at the two thousand eight Summer Olympics in Beijing, where the Netherlands defeated China in the final with a score of two to zero.
