Fatima Moreira de Melo

Fatima Moreira de Melo, born on July fourth, nineteen seventy-eight, is a multifaceted talent known for her remarkable achievements in field hockey, poker, and television. A former Dutch field hockey player of Portuguese descent, she made her debut for the national team on October twenty-first, nineteen ninety-seven, in a match against Germany, which the Netherlands won two to one. Over her illustrious career, she played one hundred ninety-one international matches, scoring thirty goals, and was a key player as a striker.

De Melo's contributions to the sport were pivotal in the Dutch team's success, including their triumph at the two thousand six Women's Hockey World Cup and the two thousand seven Champions Trophy. Her Olympic journey culminated in a gold medal at the two thousand eight Summer Olympics in Beijing, where the Netherlands defeated China in the final with a score of two to zero. In recognition of her achievements, she was named Rotterdam Sportswoman of the Year in December two thousand six.
