Feleti Teo

Feleti Teo, born on October ninth, nineteen sixty-two, is a prominent Tuvaluan diplomat and politician who has recently taken on the role of the fourteenth prime minister of Tuvalu, a position he has held since February twenty-six, twenty twenty-four. His ascent to this esteemed office followed his election to the Parliament of Tuvalu during the general elections of twenty twenty-four, where he was elected unopposed.

Teo's political lineage is notable; he is the son of Sir Fiatau Penitala Teo, who served as the first Governor General of Tuvalu from nineteen seventy-eight to nineteen eighty-six, marking a significant period in the nation’s history following its independence from the United Kingdom. This legacy of leadership has undoubtedly influenced Teo's own career trajectory.

Before his tenure as prime minister, Teo held several key positions in various multinational organizations across the Oceania region. His experience includes serving as the acting Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum in two thousand eight and as the Director General of the Forum Fishery Agency from two thousand to two thousand six. Most notably, he was appointed the executive director of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission in December twenty fourteen, a role he fulfilled until December twenty twenty-two.
