Felix Kaspar

Felix Kaspar, born on January fourteenth, nineteen fifteen, was an illustrious Austrian figure skater celebrated for his remarkable achievements in the sport. A two-time World champion, he also earned a bronze medal at the 1936 Winter Olympics, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to figure skating.

Kaspar's journey in figure skating began at the tender age of nine, training on the artificial ice rink of Eduard Engelmann Jr. His prowess was particularly noted for his impressive high jumps, which set him apart from his contemporaries. As World War II loomed, he found himself in Australia, where he met June, the love of his life. Their union lasted fifty-four years and they welcomed a daughter named Cherie.

In the late nineteen fifties and early nineteen sixties, Kaspar transitioned into coaching, sharing his expertise in Hershey, Pennsylvania. By nineteen sixty-five, he had moved with his family to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he continued to nurture young talent at the figure skating center in Golden Valley. Among his notable students was the Japanese skater Emi Watanabe.

In nineteen seventy-seven, the Kaspar family relocated to Pasadena, California, where Felix continued his coaching career. His contributions to the sport were recognized in nineteen ninety-eight when he was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame. After retiring to Florida in nineteen eighty-nine, Felix Kaspar passed away at the age of eighty-eight, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
