Fernando Muslera

Fernando Muslera, born on June 16, 1986, is a distinguished Uruguayan professional footballer renowned for his role as a goalkeeper. Currently, he plays for the Argentine Primera División club Estudiantes and represents the Uruguay national team. Muslera's football journey began at Montevideo Wanderers before he made a significant move to Nacional, where he honed his skills and showcased his talent.

In 2007, Muslera took a pivotal step in his career by signing with Lazio. During his time there, he achieved notable success, including winning the Coppa Italia in 2009. His impressive performances caught the attention of Galatasaray, who acquired him in 2011 for a fee of around twelve million euros. At Galatasaray, Muslera has enjoyed a prolific career, securing eight Süper Lig titles, five Turkish Cups, and six Turkish Super Cups.

Muslera's international career with Uruguay spanned from 2009 to 2022, during which he earned over one hundred thirty caps. He participated in five Copa América tournaments, contributing to Uruguay's triumph in 2011. Muslera was also the backbone of the national team during the FIFA World Cups in 2010, 2014, and 2018, where he played every minute as the undisputed number one goalkeeper, helping Uruguay achieve a commendable fourth place in the 2010 edition.
