Fidelis of Sigmaringen

Fidelis of Sigmaringen, originally named Mark Roy or Rey, was born in 1577 and became a prominent figure in the Catholic Counter-Reformation as a German Capuchin friar. His dedication to the faith and commitment to his vocation as a regular priest, philosopher, jurist, and lawyer marked him as a significant religious leader of his time.

Throughout his life, Fidelis was known for his unwavering resolve and deep theological insights. His work was not without opposition, and he ultimately faced martyrdom at the hands of his adversaries in Seewis im Prättigau, a location that is now part of modern-day Switzerland. This tragic end only solidified his legacy within the Church.

In recognition of his sacrifices and contributions to the faith, Fidelis was canonized in the year seventeen forty-six, ensuring that his story and teachings would endure through the ages.
